New Hill is in partnership with Culinary Concepts to help you take your love of cooking for family and friends and turn it into a way to level up!! This combination hands-on and online course enables Black entrepreneurs to be equipped with the vital tools to establish and maintain a viable business in the food service industry.

Understanding what you know and how you feel about money and collaboration through game play

What Type of Food Service Business Are You? (Food Truck, Caterer, Food Prep, Custom Baker, Private Chef, Take Out Only Restaurant, Dine-in Restaurant, Packaged Product, etc…)
○ Who’s on your team?
○ What equipment and kitchen design do you need to win?
In the Kitchen: Where the Magic Happens?
○ What’s on the Menu?- This drives everything
○ Most cost-effective way to buy your food and supporting products
○ How to reduce stress and pull off your events- it’s all about the plan
Food Preparation: Showcasing the Magic for Your Customers
○ Understanding the different type of customers
○ Service delivery methods (who’s doing what?)
○ Setting realistic expectations with your team and your customer
Health & Safety: Keeping it Clean and Organized
○ Making friends with the Health Department
○ ServSafe Certification
Budget: Plan for the “Bag”
○ How much should you be spending on food, beverage, people, etc..?
○ All the taxes and how to not get behind
○ Introducing your new friend, the bookkeeper
Marketing: How do customers know you exist
○ Establishing the basics: logo, website, social media
○ Getting your collateral produced
○ Who’s going to manage all this? - Let’s meet your new friends, the marketing team

(2) Two weekly 3 hour evening class sessions, days TBD. (i.e. each T/Th or M/W)
2-3 hours of online activities each week to be done on your own time; participants will access assignments via a user-friendly platform such as Teachable
6 weeks of high energy, engaging discussions centered around your food business/business idea.
Cohort with 6-8 participants
Kitchen time with a professional chef exploring menu options and creating dishes
Preparation for showcase event
Opportunity to receive up to $5k in grant funding
An experience that will take the basic entrepreneurial training you’ve received to the NEXT LEVEL

Our Bootcamp meets for (2) two 3-hour sessions per week for 6 weeks

Cohort participants will have the opportunity to showcase their businesses to a captive audience
Access to advisory support from the SBDC
Upon successfully completion of the program, businesses may be qualified to receive up to $5000 in grant.
Once BEACON’s Culinary Kitchen is operational cohort participants will have membership priority

Tuition is $500 and includes course materials. There are need-based scholarships and payment plans available. We are happy to discuss.
